The Swiss guitarist Gilbert Impérial was born in 1978 in Aosta (Italy) where he completed his first musical studies at the local Musical Institute. Later he obtains a soloist diploma in Germany at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg under the guidance of Jürgen Ruck and the Konzertdiplom with Elena Casoli, at the Haute Ecole des Arts de Berne.
In 2006 he debuts in Japan in Gendai Guitar, Nagoya Players Association, Moisycos Guitar festival and, to date, has made several tours and appearances at the prestigious international competitions and festivals.
In addition to the intense activity as soloist Gilbert, alternates collaborations with various chamber ensembles and orchestras as the National Symphony Orchestra of RAI and also with several composers including Peter Eötvös, Andrea Nosari, David Sanson, Uros Rojko, Maurizio Pisati, Luca Francesconi.
In his concerts, Gilbert Impérial includes repertoires of all ages, with a particular predilection for the contemporary and chamber music. In his performances uses classical guitar, electric and bass.
His performances have been transmitted by several television and radio stations, the most significant: Rai Tre, Radio Three, "Televisión de la Suisse Romande" the German Bayerische Rundfunk and the Vietnamese state television.
