Keith Tutt

Born and raised in southern California, Keith began studying the Suzuki method of Cello at the age of three, focusing on playing by ear first and incorporating sight reading around school age. By the age of seven he was studying with world renowned National Cello Institute founder Richard Mooney. Over the years, Keith's repertoire has expanded to include the bass, piano, guitar, sax, and drums. This diverse musical background has enabled Keith to work with a wide range of artists. In addition to being a regular collaborator of Switchfoot and Jon Foreman, (inclusive of their Grammy Award winning “Hello Hurricane”) his work has been showcased across multiple genres. He's contributed to works of artists such as rock legends Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and LeRoi Moore of the Dave Mathews Band, pop icons Nick Littlemore of Empire of the Sun, hiphop super producer HitBoy, and sensational singer/songwriters the likes of David Hodges, Sleeping At Last and Kina Grannis and a host of others. These relationships have also turned into a pretty extensive touring history. From world tour with Grannis, to playing the most historic venues here stateside (such as the Ryman, Fillmore, Wiltern, Hammerstein, etc) to playing the talk show circuit (Kimmel, Leno, Ellen, etc..), all using the STAT-C.

“It’s hard to get a pickup that captures the full range of the cello. Usually the sound is either too brittle or too muddy. The StatC has been a perfect. It keeps the warmness of its natural sound without compromising the clarity.”
